This work has been inspired by photographs of my frequent travels across the North York Moors and that exciting first glimpse you get of the sea as you come down the hill into Sleights. The rugged Moorlands against the mighty North Sea.
The work is mixed media acrylic inks onto watercolour paper and then machine stitched to create movement.
The background is free forming by inking directly onto the surface of a table and taking seemingly random shapes and marks and creating familiar landscapes. The foreground is made of scraps of recycled thread and fabric to give a highly textured effect.
